About the Mosque

Founding (1082):The mosque was first commissioned by the Almoravid emir Yusuf ibn Tashfin right as he founded the ancient city of Tagrart (modern-day Tlemcen).Zayyanid Additions (1236): Centuries later, Sultan Yaghmorasan of the Zayyanid Dynasty built the striking, high-standing brick minaret and regularized the internal courtyard.Protection (1875). Recognizing its monumental value, it was declared an official Historic Monument during the French colonial era, ensuring its structural preservation
